Global Seed Savers is an educational and advocacy international nonprofit organization supporting Filipino smallholder farmers in creating local food sovereignty and fostering a healthy environment through technical training and the establishment of community-owned and operated seed libraries.
Aduyon is an Ibaloi word meaning mutual help or mutual aid. As an immediate relief response to the unexpected outbreak of COVID-19, which prevented farmers from selling their products and less access to healthy food, Global Seed Savers in collaboration with many partners started the Aduyon Initiative. Through this Initiative, these challenges were met and food reached communities in need, helping our partner farmers maintain their livelihood.
A few highlights from the Aduyon Initiative:
• Delivered over 720,000 pounds of vegetables
• Reached over 50,000 families in the vulnerable areas of Metro Manila and provided access to food
• Created daily wage jobs for 70 individual vegetable packers
The Aduyon Initiative is now blossoming into long-term recovery efforts and sustainability for expanded food security and seed sovereignty. Join Global Seed Savers as we continue to build healthy communities through access to food and seeds grown by ecologically conscientious farmers. Give today and help us reach our goal of $20,000 by July 31st! Investments of any size make a lasting impact!
I know this request competes with many important social justice efforts, urgent political campaigns, and other Covid-19 response and relief causes. I ask that you give as much as you can, knowing that cumulative small gifts can make a huge impact! Maraming salamat!
