Renee's Fundraiser for Sikta Saka: The Rise of Farmers and Seeds

Help Renée Gather Support for the Farmers of the Philippines

DID YOU KNOW that I am a Board Member on Global Seed Savers?

This is an organization committed to Seed & Food Sovereignty across the Philippines and we place priceless value and resources into uplifting Philippine food producers. We function jointly in both the USA and Philippines, but all of our efforts are dedicated to bringing about positive change through seeds and food for the people of the Philippines. This organization is especially important to me because part of my identity is tied to the thousands of islands and millions of people across this land. Joining as a Board Member has happily intersected my love for food, seed saving, and dedication to the growth and prosperity of my people.

This July, Global Seed Savers is working toward a goal of $25,000 which will be redirected back into the food-growing communities across the Philippines. I am hoping that if you are in a space where you can spread your abundance, you will support this important campaign. We are ecstatic there will be a dollar for dollar match so your support will go even further. Your dollars will contribute to:

  • Philippine self-sufficiency in the their food system
  • Regenerative agriculture workshops
  • Supporting more seed libraries
  • Ensuring access to locally-adapted seeds
  • Providing on-farm tools/materials/technical support
  • Advocating for strong local policy to support food and seed sovereignty

This is a place and people worth protecting. The islands are full of surreal beauty, happy people, and delicious foods, but they are also at risk to destructive typhoons, economic and political disfunction, and food shortages.

I firmly believe in the power of seeds to bring communities together to become more deeply connected, healthier, and resilient during the challenging times we are seeing across the globe. If you also believe people should be in control of their health and food, understand the importance of regionally adapted seeds, had a chance to visit the Philippines, have friends from the islands, or enjoyed Philippine cuisine, you are in the know of what we are protecting.

Thanks for reading this message and sharing with others, and I hope you find yourself in a place where you can help support the the people of the Philippines.

Daghan kaayong salamat / Thank you very much.
